Bridgeport Releases New Mini ISO-PUCK Isolation Transformer
Medical grade isolation transformer.
Shelton, CT — Bridgeport Magnetics Group Inc. is introducing the Mini ISO-PUCK isolation transformer for television sets and other entertainment electronics in patient rooms and hospital wards. The Mini ISO-PUCK offers protection against electric shocks as stipulated in NFPA 99, 2012 edition, for patient care areas like operating rooms or rooms intended for the examination and treatment of patients.
The Mini ISO-PUCK medical grade isolation transformer reduces the leakage current from standard model TVs to well below the maximum allowed 100µA. The product thus eliminates the need to buy costly medical grade electronics with the benefit of increased safety for staff and patients as well as significant cost savings.
The 200VA isolation transformer is embedded in epoxy inside an off-white polycarbonate housing with a keyhole for easy, single screw wall mounting. The round shape of the housing makes it easy to keep clean. An optional, pivoting wall bracket holds a 36-in. or smaller flat screen TV receiver.
Like the larger ISO-PUCK I and ISO-PUCK II models, the 200VA Mini ISO-PUCK transformer comes with a two-foot long input cord with North American style molded NEMA 5-15P green dot hospital-grade plug fitting a grounded 120V wall outlet. The two foot output cord has a molded NEMA 5-15 R receptacle for the TV power plug. Other cord lengths are available options. The Mini ISO-PUCK measures 4.95 x 2.15-in. (125 x 54mm) and weighs 6.6-lb (3.0kg).
The ISO-PUCK family of enclosed medical grade isolation transformers is certified to UL60601-1 and CSA STD c22.2 No. 601.1 and IEC60601-1 and EN61558-1 with CE Marking. 60Hz models are designed for maximum 50µA leakage current, well below the legal requirement of maximum 100µA as specified in NFPA 99, the NEC (National Electrical Code) and UL 60601-1 for patient care areas. The transformer has a built-in auto-resettable thermal protector which will shut off power in case of overload.
