Beckhoff Intros Ultra Compact Embedded PC
DIN-rail embedded microprocessor.
Minneapolis, MN — Beckhoff Automation has introduced the new CX9010 DIN rail mounted Embedded PC. With the previous introduction of the CX9000 Embedded PC series, the company repackaged PC-based control technology into its most compact form — a Bus Coupler-sized housing. The new CX9010 has a higher performance processor and larger memory configuration than the CX9000.

The new processor uses an energy-efficient Intel® IXP420 processor with XScale® technology and 533MHz clock frequency. As a solid-state device, the CX9010 has internal flash memory as the boot and memory medium and a heat sink for cooling.

In combination with the company's Bus Terminal I/O or EtherCAT I/O Terminals, the CX9010 Embedded PC becomes a compact PC controller for PLC and motion control applications. The CPU module provides a direct connection to I/O systems. It is equipped with high-performance software in the form of the Windows CE operating system and TwinCAT automation software.

In its basic configuration, the processor includes the CPU, internal flash memory, main memory (RAM), NOVRAM as non-volatile memory and one switched Ethernet port with two external RJ-45 interfaces. Additional Compact-Flash, DVI/USB or serial RS232/RS422/RS485 interfaces are available.
