FDK Launches High Density Mini POL Converter

San Jose, CA — FDK Corporation is introducing the DK Series of non-isolated DC-DC converters with three new products that deliver 3Amp of output current at power densities up to 640W/in.3 and efficiencies up to 93 percent. The DK Series converters provide high efficiency, are cost-effective, and complete point-of-load (POL) power solutions in very small and low profile SMD packages.

Occupying a footprint of less than 0.3-in.2 (2cm2), the DK Series converters offer significant space savings over discrete on-board solutions at a competitive price. Their low height of 0.134-in. (3.4mm) makes them particularly suitable for high density racks, blade systems, and low profile consumer applications. The DK Series converters fit a wide range of telecommunications, data communications, computing, industrial, and consumer applications where board space, cost, profile, efficiency, and reliable operation in elevated temperature environments are critical.

The FPDK12S1R003PA, FPDK05S1R003PA, and FPDK05S1R003PAV converters are the first products of the DK Series. They are offered in a 0.657 x 0.350 x 0.134-in. (16.7 x 8.9 x 3.4mm) SMD package. The FPDK12S1R003PA converter operates from an 8.0VDC to 14.0VDC input and delivers 3A of output current at a tightly regulated programmable output voltage in the range of 1.0VDC to 6.6VDC. The FPDK05S1R003PA and the FPDK05S1R003PAV converters operate from 3.0VDC to 6.0VDC and 4.5VDC to 5.5VDC inputs, respectively, and deliver 3A of output current at a tightly regulated programmable output voltage in the range of 1.0VDC to 3.63VDC. All three models have programmable output voltage, remote ON/OFF, over-current and over-temperature protection, and a power good signal.
