Metris Software Doubles CT Reconstruction Speed
New software has doubled CT reconstruction speed.
Brighton, MI — Metris is launching Inspect-X 1.6 software that boosts throughput by increased CT reconstruction speed and improved general system control. Following the company's drive for continual X-ray and CT system improvement, the new software version further enhances system usability and introduces a faster CT reconstruction engine.

A brand new reconstruction engine increases "Time-to-Volume" or sample throughput. The new engine doubles reconstruction speed on existing hardware. In combination with the latest hardware on new systems, the reconstruction of a 1024 pixel3 volume using 1800 images is completed in only 38 seconds — reconstruction that previously took 2 minutes. A 2048 pixel3 volume using 3600 images is reconstructed in 18 minutes.

The usability of the system has been improved on various levels; the sample load position is now user-programmable so it can be re-used for repeated operations, and the auto defocus function allows for higher-power operation without risking target damage. The CT wizard was also improved to guide the user through the measurement process including up-front data quality verification, before spending valuable time on data reconstruction and analysis.

Finally, Inspect-X 1.6 has been improved on the basis of user feedback to further enhance software operation and interface look and feel.
