Universal Adds New PTH Assembly Machine
In-line version of PTH assembler.
Conklin, NY — Universal Instruments has expanded the lead span capability of its Radial 8XT insertion machine by introducing what it calls the industry's first 5.0/7.5/10.0mm triple-span radial machine. This large span capacity virtually eliminates tedious manual assembly requirements, thereby improving product quality and providing greater accuracy for through-hole applications. The latest advancement in the Generation 8 equipment lineup features 10mm tooling for the Radial 8XT.

According to the company, the Radial 8XT improves PCB coverage by automating placement of those components that, ordinarily have required manual insertion. This significantly improves throughput and quality while reducing associated labor costs, This newest machine will positively impact power supply, white goods, military, and aerospace electronics production, as well as any other applications comprised of 5.0, 7.5, and 10mm lead span components. The additional capacity also provides manufacturers with superior output for a given amount of floor space. The triple-span machine is available in both standalone and pass-through configurations, and continues to deliver superior throughput and PPM levels. In addition, 15mm dispense head tooling is offered to reduce dispense time requirements.
