Ironwood Intros Universal Hi-Perf. BGA Socket
New socket and adapter inserts.
Burnsville, MN — Ironwood Electronics has introduced a new high-performance universal BGA socket for 0.8mm pitch DDR2 and DDR3 packages. These devices come with many IC size variations ranging from 7.5mm to 15.5mm. The SG-BGA-6292 socket is designed to accommodate any of those package sizes and operates at bandwidths up to 8GHz with less than 1dB of insertion loss.
The sockets are designed with a replaceable IC guide for each package size. The contact resistance is typically 20mΩ per pin. The socket connects all pins with 8GHz bandwidth on all connections. The socket is mounted on the target PCB with no soldering, and minimal footprint. It is constructed to take the smallest board space possible, and incorporates a new quick-insertion method so that IC and the device guide can be changed out quickly.
The SG-BGA-6292 socket is constructed with high performance and low inductance elastomer contactor. The temperature range is -35 to +100° C. The pin self-inductance is 0.11nH and mutual inductance of 0.028nH. Capacitance to ground is 0.028pF, and current capacity is 2 amps per pin. The socket will work with most 0.8mm pitch DDR2 and DDR3 memory packages.
