Google's Eric Schmidt to Open CeBIT 2012
Hannover, Germany — Eric Schmidt, Executive Chairman of the Google Board of Directors, will join German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Lower Saxony State Premier David McAllister, and BITKOM President Dieter Kempf at the official opening of CeBIT 2012 in Hannover, Germany. Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff is also expected to speak at the ceremony on March 5, 2012. The expo will run from March 6 to March 10 and is presented at the Hannover Fair Grounds in Hannover, Germany.

"We are very happy to have Eric Schmidt as our 2012 keynote speaker," said Frank Porschmann, Senior Vice President of CeBIT at Deutsche Messe. "As executive chairman of the Google board of directors, Schmidt is among the international technology industry's most influential players. Under his leadership Google has gone from an ambitious university project to a global enterprise.

An audience of 2,000 guests is eagerly awaiting his visions for tomorrow's digital industry and networked society." In addition to Schmidt's participation, Google will exhibit within several sectors at CeBIT 2012.

Eric Schmidt was made CEO of Google by the company's founders, Larry Page and Sergey Brin, in 2001. On April 4, 2011 he joined Google's Board of Directors, in which capacity he continues to advise and represent the company.

CeBIT is described as the world's largest, most influential trade show and congress for digital business. Deutsche Messe has staged CeBIT as a standalone event every spring since 1986 in Hannover, Germany. It is a very special combination of trade fair, conferences, keynotes, corporate events, and business lounges.
