LeCroy Unveils 60GHz Bandwidth 'Scope
New oscilloscope mounted atop stacked interfaces.
Chestnut Ridge, NY — LeCroy Corporation has introduced its LabMaster 10 Zi oscilloscopes with chipsets that provide 36GHz bandwidth and sample rate of 80GS/s. This advanced new chipset reportedly represents technology capability well beyond that offered in other oscilloscopes. When combined with the company's Digital Bandwidth Interleave (DBI) and LabMaster ChannelSync
architecture, it allows extraordinary bandwidth density, five times more channels, more silicon-based bandwidth, nearly double the silicon-based bandwidth using DBI, and pricing comparable to oscilloscopes with far less capability.
Four oscilloscope channels, all at silicon-based 36GHz bandwidth and 80GS/s sample rate in a single acquisition module, provide twice the bandwidth density of competitive oscilloscopes.
The company's patented DBI technology allows extension of the silicon-based 36GHz bandwidth and 80GS/s sample rate to 60GHz and 160GS/s by combining two 36GHz channels. The 60GHz real-time bandwidth is also an industry first, and is nearly twice the bandwidth rating of competitive 32 and 33GHz oscilloscopes with an equivalent number of channels.
In addition, the company's proprietary ChannelSync technology in the new oscilloscopes permits precise synchronization of up to 20 silicon-based 36GHz, 80GS/s channels and up to 10 60GHz, 160GS/s DBI channels — capability not offered by any other manufacturer, and an additional industry first.
According to the company, LabMaster 10 Zi also includes a number of other industry firsts. Trigger bandwidth is 30GHz — twice that of the company's WaveMaster 8 Zi-A and LabMaster 9 Zi-A oscilloscopes, and far more than is provided by competitive instruments. Jitter Noise Floor is a low 100fs rms for the 50 and 60GHz models. Rise time (20-80 percent) is 5.5ps for the 60GHz model, and 9.75ps for the 36GHz model. In addition, a 14.1Gb/s 80-bit serial pattern trigger with support for 8b/10b and 64b/66b symbol triggering and PCI Express Generation 3.0 will be optionally available for LabMaster 10 Zi models. This trigger significantly enhances the value of the instrument for high-speed serial data debugging by providing the ability to isolate errors to specific symbols and PCI Express link layer.
